During the course of his degree, he gained relevant chemistry experience from spending a summer as an analytical chemistry lab assistant along with volunteering under a chemistry graduate student for two semesters in the lab of Prof. James Harynuk.

While at the University of Alberta, Mikolai developed extensive in-lab chemistry skills which has been further advanced with his work in Graphene Leaders Canada. Working with all projects in the company, Mikolai has developed strong graphene knowledge and skills in both the coatings and water filtration platforms.
